How Are You Making A Dent In The Universe?

I recently finished reading a great book called Rework by Jason Fried & David Heinemeier Hansson, the founders of 37Signals.  The book is an inspiring and motivating look at the world of work.  It especially focuses on structuring a successful business and on innovative ways to create an environment where people not only work well but thrive along with the business.

One of the many intriguing chapters is called "Make A Dent In The Universe".  The authors say that to do great work you must feel that you are doing something worthwhile and meaningful within your world and your work.  Not all of us can explore outer space or find a cure for cancer but we can all work at making life better for the people we come in contact with each day.  This is an important concept.  Take a look at your work and your life. Are you making a dent in the universe?  Are you leaving a legacy?  If not, how do you need to change things so that you can?

If you are interested in reading more about this, you can find the book on my reading list page.
