Hebron Virgin

When you do something for the first time, you are never quite sure how it will turn out. It was my first Hebron Women’s Retreat and so I approached the weekend with great anticipation but also a little anxiety about the experience. Having played a small role in designing the weekend, I worry about the pragmatics. Would the facility be adequate? The food good and the rooms clean? What about the planned worship and informative talks? Would they be filled with the love of God and the power of his spirit? Would we draw closer to God and each other?
As it turned out, I didn’t need to worry. The Hebron Retreat 2010 was a wonderful time of fellowship, laughter and renewal with 29 other women in the North Georgia Mountains. Our theme for the weekend was Power Through His Spirit. We learned about God’s gift to each of us of the Holy Spirit to guide our lives. We learned about exercise, good nutrition and having balance and goals in our lives. Not only was it an awesome weekend, it was an empowering weekend. The message to me of the weekend? God gives us the power to change for the better. Our job is to tap into that power. Our job is to feel that love. Just look at the faces of those who have been changed…


And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge--that you may be filled to measure of all the fullness of God.
